Product Review & FOTD on MAC Solar Field & Neo Sci-Fi Collection
Posted in LOOKS: BROWNS/NEUTRALS, MAC on May 25, 2008 by nessasarymakeupI received my Solar Field & Neo Sci-Fi collection yesterday and I LOVE the eyeshadows! I bought Femme Fi, Evening Aura, and Magnetic Fields. I didn’t bother to get Expensive Pink because it’s permanent so need to rush out for that one, and as for Time & Space, I held off on it because it looks like MAC “Mulch” eyeshadow or Milani’s “Sun Goddess”. And I bought all four of the pearlized pigment clusters: Scatterrays, Sunpower, Bronzescape, and Black Ore.
Femme Fi is such a gorgeous pearl white with gold duo-chrome looking color, it makes a perfect highlighter, and it’s definitely a color I want to stock up on! If “Shroom” and “Ricepaper” had an offspring, I think Femme-Fi would definitely be it! Evening Aura is an very light orangey pink (veluxe pearl), and “Magnetic Fields” is a beautiful dark taupe brown with a touch of charcoal, and a tiny bit of shimmer, it’s truly a unique color and great for you gals that love neutral colors!
The only disappointment (for me anyway) about this collection was two of the four pearlized pigments: Scatterrays and Sunpower. I know that MAC purposely had the intention to make them “gritty” and chunky to reflect actual earthy looking minerals or to those found on other planets (LOL), but Scatterrays and Sunpower were just TOO chunky and glittery to even work with. (I am selling these two btw if any of you are interested).
However, the other two pigments, Black Ore and Bronzescape are just breathtaking! Black Ore is perfect for a smokey look or a night out on the town, it has the perfect amount of shimmer, and it’s super sexy! Bronzescape reminds me of the “Goldstroke” pigment with more shimmer.
As you already know, I love the lipsticks, Sci-Fi Delity and Pleasureseeker, and I am thinking about grabbing the “Soft & Slow” lipglass.
Overall? This collection pales in comparison to other collections MAC has released, however, I LOVE that this collection catered to the neutral loving gals because at least there’s something for everyone. The eyeshadows by far are my favorite out of this collection. And here are the pictures to see for yourself!

I also bought “Honey Moon” lipstick from the MoonBathe Collection from CCO (cosmetics company outlet), a pretty neutral brown with gold shimmer. I love the white packaging, I wish MAC made it their permanent packaging!

Here’s a quick look I did using the eyeshadows from this collection:

MAC Solar Field & Neo Sci-Fi Collection
Posted in MAC on May 22, 2008 by nessasarymakeupI know, I know, I am lagging on replying back to some of you, I am trying! But there’s just so much to do all at once that sometimes it slips my mind! I will try and answer many of your questions today and tomorrow.
I took some swatches of the newest collection from MAC. My official take on it (product review) won’t be completed until tomorrow night because I ordered mine online (the eyeshadows and pigments) and it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, but I was able to snag a couple of the lipsticks that I didn’t add to cart previously: Sci-Fi Delity and Pleasureseeker.
Some of you didn’t like the bright neon orange packaging, and I am not a fan of orange either, BUT I must say I like that it’s bright because it helps me differentiate which lipsticks are what compared to the other lipsticks I have, especially the normal sleek black MAC tubes. It makes it a lot easier to just see it. Grab it. And go!
I swatched the blushes and the lipglasses on my right hand, and then I forgot about it and it wiped off somewhere…

This is Sci-Fi Delity mixed with the gorgeous glaze lipstick, Pleasureseeker.
“Evening Aura” is also “Femme Fi”, I didn’t realize the MUA was using Evening Aura on someone and just replaced it with another Femme Fi (argh I hate when they do that! LOL)

The receptionist said I had a delivery of flowers. I didn’t think it was from the BF because he’s not THAT romantic, it’s not my birthday (yet), and it’s not Valentine’s Day (LOL), unless I was dying and I didn’t know! I then thought it was from my dad since my birthday is around the corner (June 1st), but I know he wouldn’t send it TOO early, but alas! It was indeed from the BF with a card that read, “Just Because I love you! -Romeo”. (Yes, that’s his real name, LOL)
Awwww it was VERY sweet, even though I must admit I thought it was fishy, so much so that I immediately called him and said “What did you do? Did you break one of my eyeshadows? Did you sleep with someone?” LOL. He was like “NO! It’s because I love you!” LOL.
It was a HUGE martini glass with two straws, just in time for margaritas in Vegas! (Even though I can’t drink since im allergic to alcohol! Phooey!)

FOTD & Tutorial: Bronze & Teal
Posted in LOOKS: BLUE, Tutorials on May 20, 2008 by nessasarymakeupReader Ashley requested a tutorial using teal and bronze, at first I was thinking about making it more of an orange-y brown, but I love the goldish brown hue of Aromaleigh’s “Alloy” instead since it matched the sash on my shirt, LOL. It was actually pretty impromptu.

- Silk Naturals Foundation in Buttery Gold
Cheeks:
- Jordana Blush in “Stardust” (yeah old school!)
- MAC MSF in “Gold Spill”
Eyes:
- MAC Paint Pot in “Soft Ochre” all over the lid
- MAC “Provence” pigment applied wet all over the lid
- Aromaleigh’s “Alloy” on lower half of the lid applied dry
- MAC “Teal” pigment on outer-V and contour
- Ben Nye “Jade” on lowerlashline
- MAC e/s in “Ricepaper” as highlight
- MAC Fluidline in “Nightfish”
- Spinlash mascara
Lips:
- MAC l/s in “Fleshpot” (the best nude lipstick ever!)

Product Review: Spinlash
Posted in Product Reviews on May 19, 2008 by nessasarymakeupLike Emilee from GMM who has reviewed the Spinlash already, I am barely getting around to doing my review which was sent to me a few weeks ago from Danielle.
Product: 3 out of 5
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Practicality: 3 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5
Price: Around $12-$14, Target
PROS: It allows you to coat your lashes while combing it at the same time since the barrel spins in two directions (whichever button you choose, left or right is the direction the wand will spin), allowing you to also comb your lower lashes. It comes with its own mascara which is built-in the cap so you have a toothbrush holder looking tube, that way when you uncap it, there’s mascara already on the wand. The wand is similar to that of L’Oreal’s Telescopic Mascara or Covergirl’s Lash Exact mascara.
CONS: Like all mascara’s, it only lasts 3 months (90 days), or when the battery runs out, whichever comes first. It’s battery-operated with a built in battery that you cannot remove, hence you have to toss it out. It’s quite huge to be carrying around in your purse, and it’s quite expensive considering you have to toss it out in 3 months anyway. Might as well buy a $6 or $7 mascara and call it a day!
Overall: I am glad I received this product pro bono to test out, but I wouldn’t buy this on my own because there’s just no use when you can achieve the same results using a good eyelash curler, mascara, and an eyelash comb. And the thought of spending $14 on something that’s only going to last 3 months is crazy, I might as well spend that $14 somewhere else that WILL last me.

Comes complete with instructions:

*edit* I did not curl my eyelashes…

Here is a ghetto video I did on it, so y’all can see how it works, sorry for the scary close eye pic, lol.
Covergirl’s Spring Colors Collection
Posted in Uncategorized on May 18, 2008 by nessasarymakeup
I walked into Target the other day when a row of bright colors caught my eye- it was Covergirl’s new Spring Color Collection. They have about 8-10 new eyeshadow colors from lime, black, bronze, gold, to purple and pink.
I bought 4 of them, and was disappointed in the other 3, as you can tell by the swatches, they came out pretty sheer (unless I didn’t press hard enough). The only one that was really pigmented was “Lime Alive”, and that was actually a perfect dupe of MAC’s “Eyepopping” from the C-Shock collection. “Gold Sizzle” is like the “Golden Lemon” pigment but in eyeshadow form. They were only $3.14 each at Target, so hop on it ladies!
If you do not have a Target near you, you can check to see if they have it at your nearby drugstore. I haven’t really seen them out yet everywhere, so you might want to call and find out!

NessasaryMakeup Turns 1 Year Old Today!
Posted in Uncategorized on May 18, 2008 by nessasarymakeup
Wow, can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I started this blog. It really seems like yesterday! I am amazed how much it has grown. Time flies by when you are having fun!
Feel free to search in the search box or the labels on the right to look back at past entries!
I am finishing up the last and final orders of pigments so those should be sent out next week. In order to finally finish the new site, I AM NOT ACCEPTING ANYMORE PIGMENT ORDERS, until the store and site are complete. Any orders that were sent BEFORE the writing of this post will be considered. Even though Erica is a big help, the amount of orders outnumbers both her and I, therefore I have no choice but to halt orders until the new site is up. It’s a good thing since ordering will be A LOT easier and gives us time to re-stock on other items.
I am trying my best to post at least once a day, the past few weeks have just been a little hectic so I am trying to catch up before I fall behind. I have a lot of products to still review both for CherryCulture and other companies, so I am trying to type those up before I forget!
My mommy sent over those Edible Arrangements, with of course my favorite, chocolate covered bananas!!! I was in AWE because I love fruit, let alone a whole basket with some of the fruit dipped in chocolate!
